Message from FPSC Foundation Chair
As a practicing financial planner for more than 20 years, I advise corporate executives, professionals and those approaching retirement on personal financial management to ensure they meet their financial objectives. Throughout my career, I have continually noticed a lack of financial planning best practices. There is a scarcity of independent, unbiased research on many of the strategies that we, as financial planners, routinely employ to help our clients.
The FPSC Foundation is dedicated to addressing this issue, while keeping our goal of advancing the financial betterment of Canadians at the forefront of our work. The Foundation is committed to testing these financial planning strategies through empirical evidence and technical research to ensure Canadians are getting the best advice to suit their unique circumstances. It has become essential that financial planners have a reliable body of technical knowledge to draw upon, and the Foundation is dedicated to meeting that need.
I am proud to be part of such an important initiative for the Canadian financial services industry, and at such a pivotal moment. For practitioners, the Foundation will change the financial planning advice we give, and how we deliver it. For educational providers, the Foundation will be a funding source for financial planning research and a "brain trust" that collects the latest and most innovative ideas in financial planning. For consumers, the Foundation will act as a repository of consumer research on financial planning and behavioral science.
The Foundation will change financial planning for the betterment of all Canadians. We encourage you to consider donating to the Foundation, or to support the Foundation through your own initiatives.
